Catfish International Speedway

Let's Go Racing!

Catfish International Speedway (CIS) is the Boston area's finest 1/64th-scale slot car track. The 66-foot, four-lane MaxTrax road course is powered by an ultra-strong MacPack DC power supply, and race management is handled by LaneMaster software, displayed on three 14-inch monitors. Lap times for HOPRA-legal Modified-class cars are in the 2.5-second range!

The track is part of the 20-year-old, New England-wide Miniature Auto Racing Club (MARC) championship circuit. MARC is considered to be one of the elite 1/64th-scale racing programs in North America, and its members have a long history of top finishes in national events.

CIS is located in Cambridge, Mass., a few minutes' walk from Harvard Square. Informal racing and thrashing commonly happen on Wednesdays; give us a call at 617-747-2566 to check in on the program, ask questions, and get directions. You can also reach us electronically at rhayes@berklee.edu. We hope to see you soon!

GJet Shootout 2005
We're looking to bring the fun of the BSRT GJet, or G3 Lites car to the East Coast, and we get the party started Columbus Day Weekend, with the GJet Shootout. Catfish International, MARC, and Scale Auto are coming together to make this a good time, and chance to experience the fun those West Coast HO racers have been having for a couple of years.

Check out the press release with all the details. This should be a great time!

Catfish Throwdown 2004
As many of you know, our dear friend, MARC club cornerstone, and multiple national champion, Todd Duda, was killed in a work-related accident on October 15, about a week after this race. The loss to Todd's family, and to all of us, is simply incalculable. He was one of those people who makes every interaction fun, and every day an adventure.

Track namesake Henry Catfish shot his second slot car racing movie on raceday, which he has dedicated to Todd.

October 11 and November 1, 2003 were the dates of our MARC- and BSRT-sponsored, New England-wide events. Royal Ford, ace automotive writer for The Boston Globe, came to the November 1 race, and wrote us up! His story is called "Racers have big time in tiny world of slot cars."

Catfish International is composed of smooth, MaxTrax
modular plastic track. The course has a running length of
66 feet, with a 16-foot main straightaway. Racer at right

Lap totals and elapsed times are recorded (to .001/sec) by
Lanemaster race management software.Catfish provides a
computer monitor for the race director and another
for the drivers. Note hot dog for emergency use.

Two very fast sweepers are joined by a small-radius hairpin
on the track's first half. Hitting this turn (at center)
just right is the key to really fast times at CIS.
